Measuring method
in cooperation with the Institute for Industrial Furnaces and Heat Engineering, RWTH
By tailoring the geometry and/or the use of tundish furniture to optimise the flow of molten mass within the tundish's flow pattern, we aim to:
- improve the dwell time distribution by increasing the minimal dwell time
- provide sufficient time for separating non-metallic inclusions
In contrast, the following is to be avoided:
- dead flow zones and short-circuit flows between the infeed chamber and the ladle shroud
- surface movements within the infeed area which could lead to more slag particles being dragged into the molten mass
